Are You Looking for the Best Mini Bike Clutch? You've Come To The Right Place...

Finding the Best Mini Bike Clutch

I've been looking for a decent mini bike clutch that can withstand the beating my boys put on them. It seemed like every time I turned around I was replacing a clutch because they would burn them up! But I finally found my "go to" clutch that I use on all of my mini bikes and go karts I've had over the years.

Hilliard Extreme-Duty Clutch
Hilliard Extreme-Duty Clutch on my mini bike
The Hilliard Extreme-Duty Centrifugal Clutch - 3/4in. Bore, 12 Tooth, 35 Chain Size which is what I've been using and they work awesome! It's the best bang for the buck, believe me. You could buy a regular cheap go kart/mini bike clutch on Amazon for under $30 bucks, but the Hilliard Extreme-Duty clutch is one of the best affordable clutch's available at a fair price.

Remember: Your clutch should always be locked up otherwise it's slipping towards an early death! In a perfect world you found right gear and keep the clutch locked and you will have no problem ....

It's important to keep the clutch cool with proper maintenance. Overheating and having the lube in the wrong places lubricant kills most of the clutches. A few drops of oil around the bushing and snap ring located next to the little sprocket every few hours.

My Doodle Bug Mini Bike has No Power! You need a Bolt on Jackshaft Kit

The Doodle Bug Mini Bike jackshaft kit maybe a great little bike for your 10 or 12 year old kid to ride, but don’t think that you can re-live your youth on this thing now that you’ve grown up and now weigh over 200 pounds, you will be disappointed!

I hear so many stories of people buying a Doodle Bug, pulling it out of the box, then realizing that it’s under-powered for their fat butt. However there are a couple of things that you can do to fix the problem. The truth of the matter is, if you want to get your mini bike on the road and with plenty of power fast...the bolt on Jackshaft Kit from PMR easily bolts onto the 97cc engine and comes with everything you need for quick installation and for the price of $99.95 + Shipping. This bolt on Jackshaft Kit is by far the simplest way to fix your under-powered Doodle Bug Mini Bike. Go get one now, you'll be glad you did!

I Wanted Bigger Tires on My Doodlebug Mini Bike, heres what I found...

I just recently put a new Harbor Freight 6.5 engine on my Baja Doodlebug and I love it!! The problem is I live on a dirt road and the rear wheel bogs down into the sand. I was curious if it would be workable to put bigger tires on the bike rather then the regular 145/70-6 tires that are on there right now? There's only about two inches or so of clearance from where the tire hits the ground to where the chain is.

If you go too big you'll run into trouble between the caliper and sprocket. To avoid this problem I went with the 15X5-6...which is slightly narrower, but ended up giving me enough clearance even with the larger aftermarket hybrid caliper.

Ended up Buying These Tires

<<  Carlisle X-Trac 15X500-6 Tubeless Tires they are so freakin' cool! I can't wait to replace the old ones and get rid of the issue I've been having of bogging in the sand every time I ride it. I truthfully, haven't ridden my mini bike in about a month becuz I could not find a solution. When I installed the new engine on my mini bike, it added like 11 pounds to it plus to my 175 pound fat butt and that just made the tires even worse! However this is a way better as compared to these cheap tires that it came with. I'll most likely use the old tires for a go kart project I'm starting.

I also like these tires Carlisle Snow Hog Tire - 15/500-6 49B, they are another favorite in the mini bike circles.

Other options: are the 15/600-6 tire (also referenced as: 15X6.00-6 or 15X6-6) fits, they are a little wider than the stock tires.

Best Mini Bike Tires 145/70-6..Check out these Doddle Bug Mini Bike Tires

So I've been looking to put new tires on my doddle bug minibike. They both have some what noticeable flat spots from sitting in the back yard from the kid that I bought it from. They ride ok,  but I as thinking that I would really like to swap them out for something else. Here's what I've come up with so far as good replacements. All of these tires will fit the doodle bug mini bike with no problem (tire size: 145/70-6).

Tribute to All Bikes - Rye AZ Possibly the largest motorcycle junkyard ever...

Update: Yes it's sad but true, All Bikes in Rye, Az caught on fire caught on fire 1 2 on June 30th, 2013. I drove by there the first week of November 2013 and it's still closed.
Please leave a Comment at the bottom of this page of your experience at All Bikes, We'd all like to hear>>

[Video]Meet the Eccentric Owner of All Bikes - Ron Adler, but all around good guy.

All Bikes - Rye,AZ

This weekend I stopped by All Bikes in Rye, Arizona...it’s a motorcycle junkyard, but I think the appropriate name should be “motorcycle museum graveyard” is more fitting, a place where bikes go to die. It's really a fascinating place to visit, with well over 9,000 motorcycles, kind of an amusement park of sorts and this is why you should swing by...

Ron of All Bikes in Rye Az
...the guy who owns the place, Ron Adler, is attached to every piece of rust in the place and he should be, he's got some gems that he's collected for probably well over 40 years now. Now I know, when it comes to attachments we all have ours, right? But this guy is off the charts when it comes to how much he loves his motorcycles.

Two things you should expect when visiting his place:

1. Don't Touch Anything, Period!
2. Expect to be Quoted an Outrages Price when you ask!

Here are some interesting stories from others who have visited All Bikes in Rye Arizona:
Gee Tee says: I am really kicking myself in the head for not doing this internet search for information on All Bikes before I made the somewhat wasted trip up there today. (01/14/2009). Although the short trip was well worth it just to see this massive helter-skelter collection up close. I can remember seeing the early stages of this bone yard 25+? years ago on my trips up north and always wondered who what and why. Today was the first time I’ve actually visited the place in a search for some 1958 Schwinn Corvette parts. Just as Erik, I too ended up being a little disenchanted with the proprietor. After talking to the owner and looking around at this mind boggling collection for about 45 minutes I was told to leave. While gently brushing the dust off a faded stand tube decal on a Schwinn Corvette my arm was grabbed from behind and he said, “That’s it, it’s time for you to leave, I don‘t want anybody touching my decals.” I won’t get in the conversation after that but I did apologize and then slowly made my way out of the place. Source
Here's a couple more stories about All Bikes in Rye Az:
From Mike: “I think it is sad that this guy holds all of this stuff hostage. I know that there are people out there that see big dollar signs in this pile of chaos but there are also people that appreciate and respect the stuff kept imprisoned buy this guy. It is obvious he does it out of spite. I know people that have tried to buy stuff from him for good money. They were trying to get there childhood bike back and he would not budge. How can you call it a museum? It is just disrespect to history. Source

From ward26102: “I don't know. I was there to look around and talk to the old guy Ron. He loves to talk about motorcycles and I think he does so every day to as many people as possible. I don't think he likes to sell his prized possessions, his prices are too high and stuff is just getting weather deteriorated. I think he just likes being out there with his collection and talking to people and rebuilding bikes. Actually I was going to say he is a "hoarder," but I'm trying to be polite.” Source

I look at like this, the guy is retired and doesn't have to sell anything if he doesn't want to, even if it would give you your childhood motorcycle back. darn him! Anyways, I had a similar experience as that of everyone else: I went to move a motorcycle gas tank off the back of a minibike so I could get a better look at it and Ron bit my head with, “Hey don’t be moving stuff, it may not have value to you but it has value to me!” I thought for a moment I was back in kindergarten.
It's amazing how many motorcycles, ATC's, minibikes, trikes, go karts and every imaginable motorized vehicle is here at All Bikes in Rye Arizona

If you ever plan on trying to buy anything from this place, be prepared to be disappointed unless you’re willing to part with a stack of cash and a few pack mules or a crane to get your motorcycle out of that place. I’m not kidding, it’s treacherous, but kind of fun! I did find a guy who has actually bought a couple of things from Ron, so there is hope that you too will be this lucky. Truthfully, Ron is a one-of-a-kind guy with a deep history and a love for bikes you don't find very often, so cherish his uniqueness.

So next time your on your way to Payson from Phoenix stop by All Bikes it will be an adventure you may never forget, here's the address and contact information straight from Ron's business card: All Bikes Rye Az - New & Used Bikes, Quality Repair, Antique Restoration Parts and Accessories - Phone: 928-474-2526 Address Map to All Bikes: 16603 N Az Highway 87, Rye, Az

This electric mini bike will give you whiplash!

"It's hard not to grin after doing 50 miles per hour on this thing!"
Fellow hacker Brad Graham of AtomicZombie.com did an awesome job on this electric mini bike named the Sparky V2. This mini bike is a DC electric powered machine, with enough torque to pull a small trailer. Brad mentions that Sparky, "[is] able to run for over an hour at city traffic speeds..." plus, "[it] could be used on the street or at camp without creating any noise pollution." How freakin' crazy is that!

And guess what?! You can build your very own using his detailed plans.

Go check it out! -Sparky V2 - A seriously overpowered minibike. | Atomic Zombie

PS: His website is a great place to get ideas and a rich resource when it comes to fabricating a custom mini bike frame. Even though most of the hacking on the site is related to bicycles, it all applies perfectly to mini bike frame design and building.
